How To Contribute

There are two ways to contribute to LayerDrone
Support LayerDrone

Earn XP for Community Support

Complete quests to support LayerDrone

  • Complete limited-time tasks (on the Zealy community quest board)

  • Win community campaigns (in the Discord)

  • Earn XP when you help in the Discord or complete a task on Zealy

Fly for LayerDrone

Earn RP for Flying Missions

Use the Spexi app to fly for LayerDrone.

  • Fly autonomous, eight-minute missions (using an Android device)

  • Upload your drone’s data (DJI Mini 2, 3, 4)

  • Earn RP for every successful mission (and cash for certain missions)

LayerDrone uses XP and RP to track and reward contributions to the network.

FAQs

Who can contribute to LayerDrone?

Anyone can earn XP by contributing to the LayerDrone community, but only drone pilots can earn RP by flying missions for the LayerDrone network.

Do I need any training?

All pilots are responsible for ensuring they follow their local rules and regulations regarding drone pilot certificates, insurance, etc. While most jurisdictions do not require drone pilot licenses for drones under 250g, some do. Pilots should familiarize themselves with local laws before commencing flights in their regions.

What drones are compatible?

The LayerDrone network initially standardizes on the sub-250g class of drone, specifically the DJI Mini 2, Mini 3, Mini 3 PRO and Mini 4 PRO to start. In time, additional drone models may work on the network.

Who’s eligible for the airdrop?

Eligibility is limited to LayerDrone’s data contributors (“RP holders” and community contributors (“XP holders”). Any drone pilot who uploaded data prior to TGE and maintains a positive RP balance is eligible. Any community contributors who earned XP prior to TGE are eligible. More details on exact token allocations are coming soon.

How much can I earn?

Anyone can earn XP by supporting the community, but only pilots can earn RP by completing flown missions for the network. All contributions to the network are tracked by the LayerDrone foundation. Following the LayerDrone token launch, pilots will earn tokens for their contributions.

What is a Spexigon and how do they work?

Spexigons are hexagonal zones that overlay a map of the earth atop the LayerDrone network. Pilots map Spexigons for the LayerDrone network: each Spexigon contains flight plan information that drones autonomously use to ensure they are flying at the correct height, speed, and location to capture the best imagery possible. Spexigons standardize the capture process and make it the same everywhere on Earth.
