Pilots flying missions with the Spexi app now earn USDC rewards as the LayerDrone network successful launches on Base mainnet. No intermediaries, no more-two week payment schedules — just rewards straight to the wallet connected to your Spexi account.

To receive USDC rewards, pilots need an exchange account connected to their bank account. We recommend Coinbase; here’s how to set that up.

Why reward pilots with USDC?

While Spexi may plan the missions on the LayerDrone network, drone pilots fly them — and that’s real work, with real value. Every mission requires pilots to prep for their missions, monitor their drone, fly the Spexigon, and upload the data.

Now, as of March 17, 2026, all pilot rewards are in USDC, pegged 1:1 to the US dollar. That means instant rewards once a mission is verified by the network. What pilots earn today is what they have tomorrow. There is no need to understand token price volatility — pilots just need to set up an exchange account to cash out their USDC rewards.

And no more bi-weekly payment waits like the old system. Pilots will receive their USDC rewards as soon as their missions are successfully verified by the network.

USDC bridges LayerDrone’s vision for the network

USDC’s stability provides a solid foundation for LayerDrone’s long term vision. Pilots who start earning USDC are already on Base Mainnet. When LayerDrone launches its token, the network and its contributors will already be onchain — reducing friction, removing the need for a bridge, and motivating that pilots continue to fly missions and contribute their data.

What pilots need to know

  • USDC rewards go directly to the wallet connected to your Spexi account. Every Spexi account already has a wallet connected to it.
  • USDC rewards are deposited as soon as a successful mission’s data is uploaded and verified by the LayerDrone network.
  • Start with a small ($1) test transaction the first time you move USDC to a new address, exchange, or bank account.
  • To cash out their USDC rewards, pilots need an exchange account compatible with Base USDC. We recommend Coinbase in our walkthrough for cashing out your USDC.
  • To pay network "gas" fees, 0.001 ETH (valued at $2.34 as of March 17th) has been sent to all pilot's wallets. This should fund your first hundred or so transactions since most gas fees on Base are typically under $0.02.
